Other things you can do

Comminity and personal involvement is key to reducing violence in our communities.  Violence is everyone's problem, and without the commitment of every individual in scotland, it will continue to hamper our country's development.

Contributions both great and small are needed to make a difference - Whether you want to run violence preventions groups or just teach your children about how to keep themselves safe throughout their lives

  • As a member of the public you can stand up to violence by reporting incidents to the police or setting up voluntary community groups.  You may also wish to organise local events that promote an anti-violence message around knives, alcohol fuelled violence or group / gang violence.  We have promotional material we can share with you - check our our resources section (you can find this section on our main menu on the left hand side of the page)
  • As a parent you can help to change the behaviour of our current and future generation by helping your children to develop the skills which will protect them from becoming involved in violence, and by creating a safe enviroment for them to learn.  Make sure your children do not go out at night with a weapon and that they know the consequences of doing so - that they are more likelt to be a victim of a knife crime and they could face up to 4 years in prison.  For more information, have a look at our resources section (you can find this section on our main menu on the left hand side of the page) or some of our links
  • As a teacher you can make use of the school resources (found in our resources section of the site) on this site which teach children about the dangers of carrying weapons and chnage attitudes towards the culture of violence
