Group Targeted:

Any person who comes into Police custody, where it appears to the arresting officer, that the person's offending has a relationship with alcohol abuse. Focusing on any offending behaviour leading to arrest, with the exception of sex offenders, who receive counselling through the criminal justice system.

Aims:

To proactively target arrested persons and offer them the services of the counselling service, in an effort to address their abuse of alcohol, and to reduce their offending behaviour, in particular to reduce the instances of violence and domestic violence.

To offer the services of a trained counsellor to any person who comes into Police custody, where their offending appears to have a relationship with alcohol.
