Reducing violence key priority in Scottish Government's Justice Strategy
Reducing violence has been identified as key to the Scottish Government's justice strategy.
"Reducing crime, particularly violent and serious organised crime" is Priority 1 in the recently published Justice Strategy for Scotland 2012.
The report notes that "Key to this is the commitment to support the national Violence Reduction Unit in developing innovative practice".
Other priorities include:
- Reducing the harmful impact of drug and alcohol use
- Preventing offending by young people
- Reducing reoffending
- Strengthening community engagement and resilience
- Supporting victims and witnesses
all of which are also VRU priorities.
